Ignorance: The No. 1 Women’s Health Risk

Even though heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States, a new study reveals that women don't know this. Why aren't in tune with these facts and statistics?

According to the report, women say breast cancer is their greatest health threat. More importantly, most women don't know the basic risk factors for heart disease or stroke.

The study conducted by researchers at the Irving Center for Clinical Research, found that only eight percent of the participants identified heart disease and stroke as their biggest health concerns. Less than 33 percent of the women identified heart disease as the leading cause of death. Most of the study group admitted they were not well informed about their health.

Study authors say this research highlights the fact that most women need to learn more about heart healthy diets, the importance of exercise and stress reduction techniques.
